Hip-Hop Evolution

Hip-Hop Evolution is an award-winning four-part Canadian music documentary series. It aired on HBO Canada in 2016. Canadian rapper and broadcaster Shad hosts the series. It shows the history of hip-hop music through interviews with many of the genre’s leading cultural figures like Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, N.W.A, Ice-T, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane and LL Cool J. 

Hip-Hop Evolution screened at the 2016 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival before being picked up for broadcast by HBO. Netflix added the series on December 2016 for international distribution.

Season 2 premiered on Netflix on October 19, 2018.
